The Pipeline Integrity Specialist provides technical, field, and advisory support to clients in pipeline integrity management. The role focuses on analyzing pipeline integrity data, identifying hazards and risks, supporting Pipeline Integrity Management Programs and operational activities, and providing guidance on integrity assessments, ILI programs, chemical and cathodic protection programs, and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will collaborate with internal teams, clients, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders, providing technical support for assigned pipeline integrity activities and client needs. Acting as a focal point for pipeline integrity related issues, this role requires proactive problem-solving, sound judgment, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and shifting priorities. The position is responsible for supporting projects through execution while ensuring work is completed on schedule, on budget, and in accordance with applicable regulations and Explore’s HSE standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pipeline integrity and oil and gas operations, with experience in technical and field support, data analysis, regulatory compliance, and client advisory services. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing multiple concurrent projects, working independently, and providing practical recommendations to support pipeline integrity and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

Pipeline Integrity & Risk Management

  • Act as a focal point for pipeline integrity related issues and provide appropriate client support.
  • Provide technical and field support for Pipeline Operations & Maintenance Systems, Pipeline Integrity Management Programs, and risk management processes.
  • Analyze pipeline integrity data, identify hazards, and make recommendations to mitigate risk through periodic Pipeline Integrity Management Plan reviews.
  • Evaluate integrity assessment results and identify the need for additional preventive maintenance.
  • Assist clients in evaluating action items related to mitigation programs.

Chemical & Cathodic Protection

  • Review and provide guidance on chemical and cathodic protection vendor support and reporting.
  • Assist clients in evaluating action items related to chemical and cathodic protection mitigation programs.

In-Line Inspection (ILI)

  • Provide review and guidance throughout client ILI programs.
  • Support pipeline candidate selection, vendor procurement and pricing.
  • Support inspection program execution and evaluation of results.
  • Provide follow-up support and guidance for integrity digs.

Data, GIS & Risk Analysis

  • Maintain, update and use data in GIS and Risk Analysis software.
  • Load and validate data and assess data anomalies and inconsistencies.
  • Conduct assessments of pipelines and pipeline systems.

Audits & Regulatory Compliance

  • Execute audits of Pipeline Integrity Management Programs.
  • Represent Explore as a technical specialist in discussions with regulatory authorities.
  • Support compliance with provincial pipeline regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate changes in pipeline legislation to internal stakeholders as required.
  • Assist clients with regulatory compliance audit responses and meetings.

Client & Industry Engagement

  • Liaise with clients in a Pipeline Integrity Advisory role.
  • Participate in and contribute to industry professional associations, including AMPP and CSA.
  • Participate in Pipeline Integrity group meetings.

Project Delivery & Continuous Improvement

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while supporting completion on schedule and on budget.
  • Ensure pertinent regulations are followed.
  • Promote continuous improvement in Pipeline Integrity Management through the implementation of new technologies and procedures.
  • Draft new processes and update existing processes.

To Be Considered, You Will Need

  • 5+ years of relevant oil and gas industry experience.
  • A two-year Technology Diploma or equivalent industry experience.
  • RET, CET, or equivalent; NACE certification is desirable.
  • Knowledge of oil and gas industry pipeline production and operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of regulatory standards, including BCER, AER, MER, CER and CSA Z662.
  • Strong computer, Excel spreadsheet and data analysis skills.
  • Experience working with GIS and Risk Analysis software.
  • Ability to draft new processes and update existing processes.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, shifting priorities and multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision in a collaborative team environment.
  • A proactive approach to performing job responsibilities.
  • High awareness of safety compliance and adherence to company HSE standards.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel to the field for support ranging from a day to an entire week as required.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada.
